Job Summary
Greet and seat patients, document medical histories, and assist the dentist or hygienist with chair-side procedures and periodic exams. Expose and develop radiographs, take blood pressure readings, and manage patient dismissal to the Patient Service Representative. Maintain dental operatories and inventory, order clinical supplies, and sterilize instruments per regulatory guidelines. Hold all patient and medical information in strict confidence while adhering to Oregon and Idaho state guidelines. Work in a clinical environment with potential exposure to bright light, radiation, and bloodborne pathogens. Must obtain an Oregon Certificate of Expanded Functions within six months.
Required Qualifications
- Certification of completion from a Dental Assisting Program
- Oregon Certificate of Radiological Proficiency
- BLS certified in basic life support
- Be available to work in alternate locations and in evenings as necessary and requested
- Must receive your Oregon Certificate of Expanded Functions (EFDA) within 6 months obtaining this position
- Possess the appropriate manual dexterity to successfully perform the duties described above
- Possess normal color acuity
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Continuous sitting, standing, walking
- Correctable vision and hearing
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Uphold all Oregon and Idaho state guidelines regarding dental assisting
