Dental Assistant

Job Summary
Assists the dentist chair-side in clinical procedures, performs assigned lab duties, prepares patients for treatment, and ensures accurate dental charting. Takes diagnostic radiographs following proper techniques and radiation protection. Follows dental infection control policies, coordinates office workflow, and communicates effectively with patients and staff. Maintains organized work conditions, handles Medicaid prior authorizations, and possesses strong communication and computer skills. Requires a high school diploma and specific certifications within a set timeframe.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State of Michigan Radiology Certification required within 60 days of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Externship / internship / apprenticeship applicable
- Knowledge of dental terminology, chair-side techniques, and dental insurances/prior authorizations
- Effective communication skills
- Efficient typing and computer skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program
- Two (2) years of dental assisting experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
