Job Summary
Prepare and seat patients for dental procedures, assist dentists by passing instruments and holding suction, and educate patients on oral hygiene. Sterilize treatment rooms, manage infection control per OSHA guidelines, and document patient information in the Epic EHR system while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Handle in-house lab duties such as processing impressions and monitor dental supplies. Collaborate with the dental team to coordinate patient care and participate in staff meetings. Assist with scheduling, billing, and insurance verification as needed. Requires a dental assistant program completion, EFDA certification preferred, and 1-2 years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assistant program
- Current certification in Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
- CPR certification
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a dental assistant
- Experience in a community health setting or FQHC
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow protocols and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to bend
- Ability to reach during dental procedures
- Manual dexterity for handling dental instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
