Job Summary
Perform chair-side dental assistance in operative, prosthetics, endodontics, periodontics, radiology, and oral surgery disciplines for the inmate population at FCI Edgefield. Retrieve and examine patient records, escort patients to treatment rooms, and obtain health histories. Assist the Dental Officer by preparing instruments, medicaments, and materials; retract tissues; irrigate oral cavities; and operate the dental aspirator. Maintain dental equipment by cleaning, sharpening, and sterilizing instruments while performing daily inspections. Work Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Requires specialty training from a licensed dentist or accredited school, CPR certification, and a minimum of two years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school
- dental radiology and radiology safety
- certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services
- Federal background check will take at least 30-90 days to clear
