Job Summary
Assist the Dentist during procedures by preparing instruments, materials, suction, and retraction while performing sterilization and disinfecting operatories between patients. Maintain accurate patient dental charts, record findings, and provide patient education on oral hygiene and preventative care. Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure adherence to infection control policies, universal precautions, and OSHA guidelines. Maintain dental office security, including instruments, medication, and needle counts according to regulations. Utilize downtime to clean, organize, and stock operatories. Represent CFG Health Systems professionally, protect patient confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA and PREA regulations. Complete required orientation and participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Completion of an accredited dental program from a community college, vocational school, technical institute, university, or dental school
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential
- Current state X-Ray license
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment, and materials
- Proficiency in dental office procedures and recordkeeping
- Principles of sterilization, infection control, and dental hygiene
- Knowledge of tooth anatomy and surfaces
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate and understand written and verbal communication
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility
- Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts
- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
- Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations
Desired Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience in a dental office
