Job Summary
Temporary full-time Dental Assistant position with the Middlesex-London Health Unit in London, ON (and Strathroy clinics) to support the Oral Health & Clinical Support Services team through March 2027. Responsibilities include chair-side assistance to a dentist/hygienist, community oral health presentations, appointment scheduling and referrals, equipment setup, patient intake and documentation, and answering dental health inquiries. Requires a Dental Assistant certificate, CDA II, CPR, experience with diverse populations, infection control knowledge, and familiarity with ABELDent/OHISS; French language skills and a valid Ontario driver’s license are advantageous. Salary range $28.36–$35.42/hour. Apply by July 1, 2026 at the Health Unit website.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Dental Assistant certificate program
- Certified Dental Assistant Level II
- Current CPR certification
- Experience working with children, seniors and vulnerable populations in a clinical setting
- Experience working in preventive and treatment clinical settings
- Public Health experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience with current clinical skills such as infection and prevention control, as well with assisting and applying fluoride treatments
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to provide excellent client service and work effectively with team members
- Strong organization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities/inquiries/requests to perform independently and effectively
- Proficient technical skills in documentation, Microsoft Office, and databases
- Experience with ABELDent and OHISS is an asset
- Ability to work with diverse populations; knowledge of health inequities
- Possession of a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and use of a vehicle for work-related purposes OR ability to arrange transportation to multiple locations in London and Middlesex County
- Communication proficiency in French and/or other languages is highly desirable
