Demurrage Coordinator (Contractor)

Job Summary
Review demurrage claims, record and process all claims received and issued by the internal accounting process, and prepare payment instruction documentation for delivery to counterparties and customers. Scan, send, and save documents per company accounting and compliance processes while maintaining up-to-date demurrage sheets and reports. Daily review and reconciliation of information in various systems and worksheets ensure transaction accuracy, and verify contract approvals before uploading into the online system. Report claim status to operations and trading teams. This contractor role supports the Demurrage team in Houston, TX, focusing on claims resolution and payment coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Maritime, Logistics, or related field
- Permanent, unconditional authorization to work in the United States
- U.S. citizen
- U.S. national
- Lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
Desired Qualifications
- 0-3 years of previous settlements, claims, and/or demurrage experience
- Previous experience working with counterparties
- Bilingual Mandarin Chinese and English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically expertise with Excel
- Ability to quickly learn the company's ERP
- Proactive and self-starter
- Work accurately and attention to detail
