Job Summary
Conduct manual demolition of walls, flooring, ceilings, and fixtures using hand tools such as hammers, sledgehammers, and pry bars. Operate approved power tools and equipment when trained, then remove, sort, load, and dispose of debris to designated areas. Carry materials to dumpsters, protect work zones, and maintain clean sites to reduce hazards. Identify unsafe conditions, exposed utilities, or damaged equipment and immediately report them to supervisors. Follow all OSHA, client, and company safety procedures while wearing required PPE including hard hats, steel-toe boots, and respiratory protection. Work in dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments on active demolition sites, adhering to strict safety protocols and assisting skilled trades as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor for the duration of the assigned shift.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a demolition or construction crew.
- Must demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Must follow all jobsite safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Must be willing and able to work in dusty, dirty, noisy, and physically demanding environments.
- Must meet any client-specific background check, drug screening, identification, or site-access requirements.
- Must be flexible to work weekends to meet deadlines
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and twist.
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry construction materials, tools, and debris.
- Must be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds independently, with heavier materials requiring team lifting or mechanical assistance.
- Must be able to perform repetitive physical movements throughout the shift.
- Must be able to grip and safely operate hand and power tools.
- Must be able to work on uneven or debris-covered surfaces.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders when required and authorized.
- Must maintain sufficient balance, coordination, and mobility to safely navigate active demolition areas.
- Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical activity throughout the workday.
- Must be able to maintain concentration and situational awareness in a fast-paced and potentially hazardous environment.
- Must be able to follow detailed safety instructions.
- Must be able to recognize hazards.
- Must be able to distinguish between materials or areas approved for demolition and those that must remain intact.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Must be able to adapt to changing jobsite conditions.
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment when performing assigned tasks.
- Must be able to stop work and immediately notify their supervisor when they encounter an unsafe condition, unidentified material, exposed utility, or situation outside the scope of their training or authorization.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous demolition, construction, general labor, restoration, or similar experience.
- Experience using demolition hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with construction-site safety practices.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with commercial or industrial demolition.
- Experience with material handling, debris removal, and construction cleanup.
- Ability to identify common construction materials and understand basic demolition sequencing.
- Experience working around construction equipment and skilled trades.
