Job Summary
Provide dementia-specific respite for clients and their families, including scheduled overnight stays and group activities. Offer meaningful engagement, emotional support, and practical assistance to individuals living with dementia while maintaining clear and accurate progress notes, incident reports, and risk documentation. Travel within the diocese as needed to support clients in different locations. Attend Dementia Together retreats, where overnight attendance may be required. This role supports the Dementia Together program's expansion into respite services, group activities, and advanced care planning within CatholicCare Central Queensland.
Required Qualifications
- CHCAGE011 – Provide Support to People Living with Dementia (or relevant updated qualification), or willingness to obtain
- Certificate III in Individual Support or willingness to obtain
- Assist Clients with Medication competency or willingness to obtain
- Be available for overnight support on a semi-regular basis
Desired Qualifications
- Understand the unique needs of people living with dementia
- Are caring, patient, and great at observing what works well for clients
- Can provide dementia-specific respite, including rostered overnight stays
- Are willing to travel within the diocese to support clients from time to time
- Can attend group respite activities and Dementia Together retreats (overnight stays may be required)
- Maintain accurate progress notes and incident/risk reporting
