Job Summary
Provide dementia-specific respite for clients and their families, including scheduled overnight stays and attendance at group respite activities and retreats. Offer meaningful engagement, emotional support, and practical assistance while maintaining clear progress notes, incident reports, and risk documentation. Travel within the diocese as needed to support clients in different locations. This role supports the Dementia Together program's expansion into advanced care planning and respite services across the Rockhampton Diocese.
Required Qualifications
- CHCAGE011 – Provide Support to People Living with Dementia (or relevant updated qualification), or willingness to obtain
- Certificate III in Individual Support or willingness to obtain
- Assist Clients with Medication competency or willingness to obtain
- Be available for overnight support on a semi-regular basis
- Travel within the diocese as needed to support clients in different locations
- Attend group respite activities and Dementia Together retreats (overnight attendance may be required)
- Maintain clear and accurate progress notes, incident reports, and risk documentation
- Understand the unique needs of people living with dementia
- Be caring, patient, and great at observing what works well for clients
- Can provide dementia-specific respite, including rostered overnight stays
- Complete relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check
- Complete an NDIS disability worker screening check
- Attainment of a Blue Card for working with children
