Job Summary
Operate vehicles to transport goods to specified destinations while following planned routes and adhering to schedules. Conduct daily vehicle checks, perform basic maintenance tasks, and report any defects or issues to the Depot Team Leader. Accurately load, unload, and deliver orders to customers, ensuring products are packed safely and secured. Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and incidents, and complete all necessary delivery paperwork and signatures. Provide courteous service to customers and colleagues while using navigation systems to optimize travel routes and avoid delays. Work independently managing time effectively, with flexibility for an average of 45 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., Category B for cars, Category C for lorries)
- Hold a clean driving record
- Excellent knowledge of UK road networks and traffic laws and familiarity with using GPS and other navigation tools
- Basic mechanical skills for vehicle checks and minor repairs
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility
- Flexibility working an average of 45 hrs per week
- Basic DBS check
