Job Summary
Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations to deliver merchandise to job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, and other locations. Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise, secure the load properly, and unload correct items while obtaining legible signatures per Company policy. Review shipping documents to ensure order accuracy, collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries, and resolve shipping discrepancies quickly with customers. Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered during deliveries. Inspect the truck and required parts prior to departure, keep the vehicle clean, and advise management of any mechanical problems. Complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report at the end of the workday if driving a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 lbs. or more, remove keys from the truck, and store them in the approved location. Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
- Be at least 21 years old
- Possess a proper and valid driver's license
- Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
- Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
- Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
- Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
- Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
- Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
- Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
- Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
