Job Summary
Drive a delivery truck in your assigned zone to transport merchandise to customer homes or businesses, ensuring safe vehicle operations and directing trucks into unloading areas. Load and unload trucks daily, set up merchandise at delivery locations, and obtain customer signatures on receipts. Record all deliveries and monitor vehicle maintenance, including inspections, general upkeep, and fuel usage. Maintain warehouse cleanliness, assist with stock placement, and perform general grounds keeping duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- six months experience in a distribution or warehouse environment
- any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position
- Must possess and maintain a valid State Drivers License
- general familiarity with the delivery area
- Must be able to meet DOT requirements
- Medical Examiners Certification
- Driver's DOT qualification file
- ability to exert heavy physical effort
- ability to climb and balance
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
- ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects of moderately heavy weight (up to 100 pounds)
- ability to handle heavier objects (in excess of 100 pounds)
- ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals
- ability to communicate orally
- ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions
- ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures
