Job Summary
Load and unload trucks, place stock on shelves, and set up merchandise displays for daily deliveries. Direct delivery trucks into unloading areas, record deliveries, and obtain customer signatures on receipts. Assemble merchandise as needed, perform customer service inspections and repairs, and maintain cleanliness of the store and warehouse grounds. Uphold company delivery standards and H.O.M.E. values while assisting in other store departments as required. This role involves heavy physical effort including lifting up to 100 pounds and working in environments with potential exposure to dirt, dust, and temperature extremes.
Required Qualifications
- Jr. High School Diploma
- six months experience in distribution or warehouse environment
- shipping/receiving or delivering merchandise
- ability to exert heavy physical effort, regularly involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling
- ability to lift, carry, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 100 pounds)
- ability to handle heavier objects (in excess of 100 pounds) occasionally
- ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals
- ability to communicate orally
- ability to assemble, process and tabulate data according to a prescribed plan
- ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations
- ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments
- ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and/or descriptive data and information
- ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions
- ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures
