Job Summary
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area while running department registers, receiving payments, and making change. Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting patrons, learning their names, answering phones, and taking orders at the counter. Escort customers to products, load heavy items, and review daily orders to ensure adequate food supply and freshness. Prepare, finish, and replenish products as needed, removing trash and adhering to sanitation and hygiene guidelines. Wash dishes, order supplies, and deliver orders as necessary. This role supports Hy-Vee's commitment to a helpful smile in every aisle within our fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Less than high school or equivalent education
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Must be able to write identifying information
- Must be able to request supplies orally or in writing
- Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction
- Color vision
