Job Summary
Run department registers, receive payments, make change, and process customer orders at the delicatessen counter. Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting shoppers, answering phones, and assisting with product selection. Manage daily operations by reviewing orders, preparing and replenishing product, checking food freshness, and maintaining a clean, sanitized work area. Remove trash, wash dishes, and price products as needed. Work night and weekend shifts in a fast-paced environment with daily contact with customers and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Less than high school or equivalent education
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Must be able to write identifying information
- Must be able to request supplies orally or in writing
- Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction
