Job Summary
Lead evening deli operations by coaching associates on service standards, managing inventory, pricing, and merchandising to meet sales goals. Oversee product quality across self-service and service cases, monitor hot and salad bars, and ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols and sanitation logs. Resolve guest concerns, fulfill special orders, and maintain accurate stock levels while supporting the Deli Assistant Department Manager. Maintain a clean, welcoming department and ensure timely attendance with adequate notice for absences. This full-time role involves evening shifts during weekdays, weekends, and holidays within our Wisconsin grocer environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to motivate, lead, and train a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to interact with guests in a tactful and effective manner, addressing concerns and ensuring guest satisfaction
- Strong oral and written communication skills for coaching, reporting, and managing a diverse team
- Solid understanding of deli operations, inventory management, and merchandising, with the ability to make timely decisions
- Thorough understanding of safety procedures and ability to apply on-the-job safety training
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, and pushing carts of up to 200 pounds
- Full range of upper body motion
- Ability to stand for most of the shift
- Ability to work at a fast pace
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule
- Adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Desired Qualifications
- Prior food service leadership experience in fast food, as a line cook, prep cook, or are just eager to apply your retail leadership experience in a grocery kitchen environment
