Job Summary
Plan and prepare food for the Restaurants, Deli, and Catering departments using established production procedures and systems. Set up, organize, and prepare food while complying with sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards to maintain a clean work area. Observe proper food handling techniques, store food safely with date and item markings, and assist Line Cooks or the Deli Department as needed. Read recipes, follow exact measurements, and work with minimal supervision while managing stress during busy periods, weekends, and holidays. This role supports Buehler's strategy to become the Best in Food Service with the freshest foods, ensuring every customer experience is special across our 13 northeast Ohio grocery stores.
Required Qualifications
- Attained at least 18 years of age; or if age 16-17 cannot operate any equipment (slicer, buffalo chopper, etc.)
- Able to occasionally be required to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50# - 80#
- Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and can do simple math problems
- Able to work within our deli/kitchen environment that includes equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef's knives…so frequently you will be exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise
- Previous Prep Cook experience
