Job Summary
Prepare fresh and easy meals for customers while ensuring Deli items are properly packaged, presented, and that the department area remains clean and sanitary. Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays; operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, and other deli equipment following company standards. Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy; answer phones and take special orders. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area by cleaning shelves, floors, and equipment, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping. Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, including obtaining and maintaining a Food Handlers permit. Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, lifting up to 70 lbs. and standing continuously for four hours.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field
- Have an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Be dependable and reliable
- Have an outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude
- Have the ability to interact with our customers
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Have good communication skills
- Have the ability to take direction
- Have the ability to participate in a team environment
- Be able to answer phones
- Be able to take special orders
- Be able to lift/carry product horizontally/vertically weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4" to 60", for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours
- Be able to stand for up to 4 hour continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
