Job Summary
Prepare fresh and easy meals by assisting customers in making healthy food choices. Provide high-level customer service while ensuring deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays; operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, and other equipment following company standards. Prepare special orders and party trays, and receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy. Maintain a clean floor free of spills and hazardous debris, sweeping and sanitizing work areas including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers. Adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations, including obtaining a Food Handlers permit. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, lifting up to 70 lbs. for up to four hours per shift.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field
- Have an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Be dependable and reliable
- Have an outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude
- Have the ability to interact with customers
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Have good communication skills
- Have the ability to take direction
- Have the ability to participate in a team environment
- Be able to answer phones
- Be able to take special orders
- Be able to lift/carry product horizontally/vertically weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4" to 60", for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours
- Be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
- Be able to work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer)
