Job Summary
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with product selection, special orders, and inquiries while collaborating to deliver a world-class experience. Prepare, slice, package, wrap, label, and price deli products including meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods to maintain quality and freshness standards. Merchandise and stock inventory using first-in, first-out procedures, ensuring products are properly faced, priced, and presented. Maintain cleanliness of display cases, preparation areas, and storage zones while adhering to food safety, WHMIS, and sanitation schedules. Operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems to process transactions accurately. Monitor stock levels, communicate shortages to the Deli Manager, and support inventory counts and markdowns. Requires high school completion, customer-facing experience, and ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 kg in a retail deli environment with regular exposure to refrigerated and hot food areas.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Retail deli environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movements
- Regular exposure to refrigerated environments, hot food preparation areas, and food service equipment
- May be required to lift and carry items up to 20 kg
- Requires use of all senses and adherence to food safety and workplace safety standards
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of high school is preferred
- Previous customer service, retail, grocery, or food service experience is considered an asset
- Experience handling food products or working in a customer-facing environment is preferred
- Food Safe Certification is considered an asset
- Prior WHMIS training is an asset
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail and food industry
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is considered an asset
