Job Summary
Deli Clerk at Brookshire Grocery Company responsible for preparing hot and cold deli foods per company standards, and delivering customer service by taking and fulfilling orders and maintaining attractive product presentation. Duties include assisting with slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling deli items under supervision; stocking and rotating deli products to meet quality control and food-safety standards; operating equipment safely; greeting customers and taking orders by phone and in person; promoting product sales through suggestive selling; maintaining a clean and safe work environment; and working a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be at least 18 to operate motorized equipment, and hold a Food Handler certification. The role emphasizes teamwork, a positive customer experience, and adherence to safety protocols in a retail deli setting.
Required Qualifications
- Food Handler certification required
- Minimum age 16
- Must be 18 years of age to operate and clean motorized equipment
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy
- Ability to learn new systems and read/dial/calibrated equipment
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales
- Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a slicer, knives, box cutters
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment
- Ability to safely work with objects with sharp edges
