Job Summary
Deli Bakery Team Leader at Meijer overseeing day-to-day store operations in the deli/bakery departments. Plans, directs, and supervises team members; mentors and coaches staff; focuses on customer service, sales performance, and adherence to company standards. Responsible for staffing and hiring to meet needs, promotes career development and succession planning, enforces training and safety standards, manages P&L and shrink, ensures exceptional service and product presentation, and drives department initiatives and Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings. Requires strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, task-management, financial/statistical analysis for decision-making, and ability to mentor a diverse team including hourly staff and SDITs; physical safety and compliance certifications are required. Occasional rotations to other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and dedication to attendance and a safe work environment are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent required
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions
- Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
- Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders
- Successful completion of all required certifications
