Job Summary
Market Lead serves as the local category expert, driving market-specific merchandising and pricing strategies with a strong field presence, collaborating with store leadership and operations, and guiding hyperlocal initiatives, promotional planning, and competitive response. Key duties include delivering local insights to inform assortment, pricing, and promotions; leading the Food Now pilot; coordinating cross-functional execution across store design, digital experience, marketing, and operations; providing pricing insights and input on local schematic changes; supporting vendor relationships and field teams, and traveling ~70% to engage with stores and teams while ensuring cohesive execution of divisional strategies and local market relevance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Management, or equivalent work experience
- Advanced coursework or certifications in Category Management, Retail Strategy, or Data Analytics
- Experience Level: 7+ years in merchandising, category management, or retail operations
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration experience across sales, operations, and marketing teams
- Strong understanding of category management, pricing, and promotional strategy
- Experience with schematic planning and local adjustments based on store/customer needs
- Ability to translate division-level strategies into market-specific plans
- Willingness to maintain a high level of field presence (approx. 70% travel)
