Job Summary
Manage daily operations of the deli and bakery departments by ensuring consistent, compliant service and fresh product availability. Execute merchandising plans, train associates on inventory levels and stocking, and fulfill customer requests while maintaining high standards for freshness and quality. Lead team members through performance coaching, schedule management, and goal establishment to drive sales and profitability. Complete administrative tasks including ordering, pricing changes, and inventory planning while adhering to all food safety, USDA, and wage-hour regulations. Operate deli and bakery equipment, perform basic baking and decorating, and maintain a safe work environment through regular safety inspections and hazard reporting.
Required Qualifications
- High School / GED
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 - 6 yrs minimum
- 1 - 5 yrs minimum
- Must be 18 years of age
- Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Operate deli and bakery equipment (e.g., slicer, fryer, oven, scale, knives, box cutter and pricing gun) according to company guidelines
- Ability to perform basic cake decorating skills (base ice cakes, borders, cake writing, etc.)
- Ability to perform basic baking skills (proofing product, product preparation, baking, packaging, etc.)
- Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department
- Possession of Food Safety Certification or the ability to obtain same within 180 days of placement
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to pull 250 lbs
- Must be available for varied shifts, including three (3) to four (4) evening (prime time) shifts each week
