Job Summary
Support the Deli Department Manager in achieving labor goals through effective scheduling and collaborating on daily, weekly, and annual objectives. Contribute to gross profit targets by controlling shrink and managing inventory levels to ensure accurate pricing and reduce waste. Lead department associates by delegating tasks, providing guidance, and partnering with HR to interview, hire, and train new team members. Maintain cleanliness and organization across work areas, shelving, and the sales floor while delivering exceptional guest service by addressing concerns and resolving issues. Manage vendor orders for special events and holidays, prepare coaching sessions and performance reviews, and ensure timely attendance with adequate notice for absences.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in fast food, deli, or restaurant environments
- Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team in a fast-paced setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Thorough understanding of the retail food business, including deli and perishable department operations
- Familiarity with equipment such as slicers, fryers, and ovens
- Knowledge of safety requirements and company policies, with the ability to apply on-the-job training to identify and address potential hazards
- ServeSafe Certification
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions, ensuring smooth operations and high guest satisfaction
- Stand in place for a long period of time
- Bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
- Full range of upper body motion
- Lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
- May be exposed to varying temperatures such as refrigerators, freezers, kitchens and sales floor
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule
- Adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
