Job Summary

The Deflection Specialist facilitates services for consumers in the criminal justice system, supports case management, and helps divert individuals from short-term correctional facilities to State Developmental Centers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or a closely related field
  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to a Service Coordinator
  • or Three years of experience as a Service Coordinator or a like position

Desired Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification and experience in addressing issues relevant to the developmentally disabled community

Additional Requirements

  • Valid California Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
  • Possession of or access to an insured vehicle
  • The ability to tolerate encounters with potentially hostile and aggressive individuals
