Defense Chief Engineer

Defense Chief Engineer at Pratt Miller Defense (Oshkosh) leads engineering execution of projects, oversees technical approach, and ensures customer satisfaction, quality, timing, and profitability. Responsibilities include mentoring engineering teams, planning programs, approving design changes, coordinating technical development and scheduling, identifying vehicle architectures and system partitioning, conducting SWOT analyses, and driving cross‐functional collaboration with management, customers, and partners. The role requires a strong background in full vehicle design and development, systems engineering and safety, experience with verification and validation, familiarity with CAE tools and lean product development, hands-on field experience, and the ability to communicate strategic vision into actionable plans. Desired qualifications include 15+ years in defense, BS/MS in a related engineering discipline, knowledge of defense standards, and eligibility for security clearance. The position is hybrid, with in‐office presence 50% or more and potential travel as needed.
