Job Summary

Direct all contracting actions to win, negotiate, administer, and close contracts in the APAC region and Global ground/range combat training on behalf of Cubic and affiliates, with emphasis on CDAus, C-TECH, and CDNZ. Lead the Contracts business partner to senior leadership, managing complex prime and subcontract obligations while ensuring compliance with Australian statutes, export regulations, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Plan and prepare substantial proposals, conduct negotiations, and mitigate financial, legal, and performance risks in coordination with the Project Management Team. Mentor personnel in contract management law, regulation, and compliance, and oversee subcontract teams to ensure timely billings and accurate database updates within SAP. Exercise significant discretionary decision-making authority under limited supervision to resolve claims, changes, and terminations with minimal senior leadership intervention.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a technical or business-related discipline
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON)
  • 12+ years-experience in contracts and subcontracts management
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in Contract Management for high-value contracts for highly complex products and systems
  • Thorough knowledge of prime/subcontract formation and management activities
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate complex terms, conditions and price involving major systems
  • Ability to provide workable solutions to address a wide variety of contractual challenges
  • Must be able to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, working extended hours, as required
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and understand business priorities and requirements
  • Ability to provide sound and strategic contractual and commercial advice
  • High-level negotiation, contracts and subcontract management experience
  • Sound financial management and document generation and control skills
  • Demonstrated people management abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact in extremely delicate, sensitive and/or complex situations dealing with Australian and foreign agencies and commercial customers
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Successful outcome of a National Police Check
  • Australia citizenship
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain an Australia Government security clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in international contracts and subcontracts management
  • SAP experience
  • Familiarity and experience with the U.K. Defense Conditions (DEFCON)
