Defence Security Officer

Defence Security Officer position at RMIT’s Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence and Aerospace Centre based in Melbourne. You will deliver Defence-related security functions within the Security Managed Environment, implement and administer approved security policies, procedures and controls across Defence-related programs, ensure compliance with DISP/PSPF and Defence security requirements, and support reporting obligations. Working as part of the Security Operations Team, you will help maintain security outcomes, manage sensitive information with integrity, and contribute to compliance and assurance efforts across Defence work. The role requires relevant administration, compliance, governance, risk, or related operational experience, strong stakeholder engagement, high-level digital literacy, and the ability to manage records and reporting obligations. Mandatory qualifications include relevant qualification and/or industry experience, Australian citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance; pre-employment checks such as Working with Children Checks and National Police Check are noted as part of recruitment.
