Job Summary
Prepare, ice, and decorate cakes and baked goods for display or customer requests by tracing templates, blending icing colors, and selecting appropriate tools. Make quick decisions under time pressure to complete decorating tasks, while inspecting products for food safety and quality standards. Clean, assemble, and prepare equipment under supervision, and greet customers to fulfill requests through suggestive selling initiatives. Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to safety procedures and reporting hazards to a supervisor. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, with on-the-job training provided.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma or GED
- Six or more months of related experience
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Food Handler certification
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with customers and partners
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment
- Must be 18 years of age to operate or clean motorized equipment
- Must be able to lift objects up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to lift objects up to 75 lbs
- Ability to develop and plan creative designs on baked goods
- Ability to use precision hand tools for decorating, carving, sculpting, etc.
- Ability to identify, match, and blend icing colors
- Ability to make fine judgments regarding colors, texture, aroma, flavor, and taste
- Ability to select appropriate decorating materials and tools to complete requests
- Ability to make quick decisions under time pressure
- Ability to take initiative to decide course of action
- Ability to clean, assemble, and prepare equipment for operation
- Ability to examine equipment to check working order
- Ability to greet customers, answer questions, and fulfill customer requests
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment
- Ability to adhere to Company safety procedures
- Ability to promote product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives
- Ability to be attentive to potential hazards
- Ability to remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near a hazard
- Ability to report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
