Job Summary

Assist the Mate/Captain with vessel start-up and shutdown, raising and lowering passenger loading ramps, and securing vessels to docks in all weather conditions. Perform daily inspections of onboard safety equipment, conduct pre-and post-trip checklists including full maintenance, and collect fares while calculating daily cash and credit sales. Ensure safe onboarding and off-boarding of passengers and materials, respond to passenger queries, and participate in safety drills such as man-overboard scenarios. Maintain Transport Canada safety requirements and attend staff meetings as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Deckhand or in a similar role
  • Basic knowledge of minor vessel maintenance
  • Marine Emergency Duties Certificate
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • Energetic
  • Professional and courteous demeanor
  • Punctual
  • Regular attendance
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to operate within Transport Canada Guidelines
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Adjustable and flexible to meet changing work needs and demands
  • Commitment to embodying a personal addiction-free lifestyle
  • Current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Valid driver's license
