Job Summary
Handle lines and cables during docking and undocking, manage cargo-handling gear, and assist with launching and recovering test equipment, torpedoes, and range test items. Maintain shipboard safety equipment, conduct vessel preservation including painting and surface preparations, and operate small boats when qualified. Stand at wheel or lookout to watch for obstructions, steer the ship, and direct security procedures while inspecting work areas and crew quarters for cleanliness. Work full-time, 50-hour weeks, five days a week, with relocation to Andros Island, Bahamas, where flight and lodging are covered by the Navy. Submit and hold your security clearance, utilizing a reimbursement program to offset shipping costs for personal items.
Required Qualifications
- Full time relocation to the island
- 5 days a week 50 hour work weeks
- U.S. citizen
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
- 1+ years of marine operations experience
- Valid passport
- Ability to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good judgment
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
- Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level
Desired Qualifications
- USCG Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchstanding (STCW) certification
- Experience in operating boats
