Job Summary
Deckhand on tugboat operations requiring line handling, mooring, cargo handling, and vessel maintenance. Responsibilities include line handling and mooring during docking/undocking, making up/breaking tows, routine deck maintenance, painting, rust removal, lubrication, and assisting with repairs; adherence to maritime safety regulations, participation in safety drills, and use of PPE; support for watchkeeping, navigation signals, and cargo/tug operations; strong teamwork and communication with captain, mechanic, supervisor, contractors, and crew; physically demanding tasks with extended hours and weekends; must relocate to area or reliably commute to vessel location; TWIC/MMC credentials preferred and safety trainings recommended.
Required Qualifications
- TWIC or MMC (preferred)
- Basic Safety training: First Aid, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Survival at Sea, CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or possibility to obtain
- Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with necessary endorsements (preferred)
- Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
