Job Summary
Deck electricians install, repair, overhaul and test electrical systems aboard ships, reading and interpreting complex electrical and electronic schematics, and performing tasks such as lighting, power distribution, wiring, mounting equipment, and controls. The role requires ability to work at extreme heights or in confined spaces, lift up to 40 lbs, pass a physical agility test and respirator fit test, and work across various shifts indoors/outdoors year round. Candidates should have completed an electrical/technical/vocational program or have at least 1 year of related electrician experience (commercial, residential, industrial, or marine) and may have related military training; strong measurement-taking and willingness to learn are also expected. U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an electrical, technical, mechanical or vocational program; related military training; OR at least 1 year of experience as a commercial, residential, industrial or marine electrician / related experience in mechanical, carpentry, auto mechanics, roofing or computer/IT.
- Must be able to pass Physical Agility Test.
- Must be able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions.
