Job Summary
Dean of Students (Grades 6–8) at Delphi Community Middle School leads as part of the middle school leadership team to support academic, behavioral, and operational success for students in grades 6–8. Responsibilities include assisting with student supervision, behavior support, discipline processes, promoting positive school culture, PBIS/restorative practices, and safe learning environments; supporting teachers with classroom management and student behavior strategies; coordinating substitute coverage and daily operations; coordinating testing and school events; and communicating effectively with students, staff, families, and community members. Requires an Indiana Teaching License and a teacher contract model with additional days; preferred administrative license. Strong collaboration with administration, teachers, students, and families is essential, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. The role entails participating in district and building initiatives and serving as a positive representative of Delphi Community School Corporation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Teaching License required
- Administrative license preferred but not required
- Minimum of three years successful teaching experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families
- Knowledge of student discipline practices, restorative approaches, and middle school programming
