Job Summary
Dean of Students leads a positive, structured school culture and supports leadership in grades K-5 and 5-8 across KIPP Capital Region. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining high behavioral expectations, coordinating school-wide systems to support achievement, safety, and routine operations; coaching teachers to build a strong classroom community; handling discipline and culture issues with the leadership team; leading professional development focused on school community, social-emotional development, and family partnership; overseeing attendance, behavior referrals, and after-school/enrichment activities; collaborating with the Social Worker/ Guidance Counselor on student support plans and parent workshops; maintaining accurate discipline records and ensuring communication with families; and supporting school-wide procedures from arrival through dismissal. Commitment to anti-racism, equity, and racial justice is central to the role. This position is located in Troy and Albany, NY, with on-site work required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or higher
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience working with youth in schools or similar settings
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 4+ years of successful classroom or youth-facing experience
- Experience in urban schools preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedule
