Job Summary
Consumer Credit Analyst I responsible for risk analysis of secured and unsecured consumer loans; review and evaluate loan applications using underwriting procedures, approve/counter/deny per policy, and clearly document the reasoning. Maintain relationships with members and originators; ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws; apply fraud detection techniques; analyze credit history, income, and financial statements to determine repayment capacity; compute lending ratios (credit utilization, Loan to Value) and ensure transactions align with credit union guidelines. Also assist in training originators, respond to inquiries, and support reporting, with remote work available in California (Sacramento area) and standard non-exempt duties; may include extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree preferred
- Minimum 6 months in consumer lending or a judgmental lending environment
- Ability to analyze credit history, income, and financial statements; apply underwriting standards and risk mitigation techniques
- Knowledge of credit analysis and reporting; understanding of lending policies and related laws (Fair Lending, Truth in Lending, AML)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
