Job Summary
The role involves acting as a communicator and sighted guide for individuals with a combined loss of hearing and sight, facilitating access to information and interaction with their surroundings. Responsibilities include assisting with daily tasks, transport to appointments, and support with assistive devices. Candidates are preferred to have a Diploma in Deafblind services or equivalent, as well as experience in the field. Additional skills such as ASL, bilingualism, and proficiency in alternative communication methods are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Deafblind services or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years experience working with individuals who are deafblind
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Proof of legal ability to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Formal training in ASL is an asset
- Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred
- LSQ training is preferred
- Alternative communication skills such as Two Hand Manual, Braille are preferred

- Legally eligible for employment in Canada
