Job Summary

Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing while modifying lessons, materials, and teaching approaches according to each student's learning and communication needs. Implement instructional goals and accommodations identified in Individualized Education Programs, work collaboratively with classroom teachers and families, and participate in ARD and IEP meetings to share progress and recommendations. Support communication development through spoken language, sign language, or a combination of methods, incorporate assistive listening devices and visual supports, and monitor student performance to adjust instructional supports. Complete service records, progress reports, and other required documentation accurately and within established timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Current Texas teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or Auditory Impairments
  • Knowledge of effective instructional methods for students with hearing differences
  • Understanding of IEP procedures, accommodations, and school-based special education services
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build productive relationships with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred
  • Proficiency in sign language is a plus
