Job Summary
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) needed for school year in Goose Creek, SC. Provide specialized instruction to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in one-on-one, small group, and inclusive settings; develop and implement IEPs and 504 Plans; utilize ASL, cued speech, auditory-verbal therapy, and other communication methods; adapt curricula and instructional strategies for accessibility; collaborate with general and SPED staff including SLPs, audiologists, interpreters; teach self-advocacy and independent living skills; monitor progress and adjust interventions; provide training to teachers on accommodations and classroom accessibility; maintain records per SCDE and IDEA; stay current with best practices and technology for DHH students; license and qualifications required for SC teaching. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- South Carolina Teaching License with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Endorsement (SCDE)
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Experience with assistive listening devices (e.g., FM systems, cochlear implants, hearing aids) preferred
- Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check required
