Job Summary
Conduct vocational assessments and develop personalized employment plans for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals to help them secure competitive jobs across New Jersey. Build relationships with local employers while providing one-on-one job coaching, workplace training, and ongoing support to ensure successful placement. Teach job readiness skills and maintain detailed documentation to ensure compliance with program and accreditation standards. Collaborate with families, counselors, and funding partners to promote employment outcomes, representing Easterseals at networking events to expand opportunities. This role requires fluency in American Sign Language and the ability to travel approximately 65% of the time within Central New Jersey.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to successfully pass the Sign Language Communication Evaluation (SLCE) assessment administered by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS)
- Passion for disability employment and empowering others to achieve independence
- Skill in building relationships with employers and community partners
- Comfort with providing coaching, training, and individualized support
- Organization, self-motivation, and ability to manage documentation and multiple priorities
- Effectiveness as a communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Rehabilitation, or a related field with 1 year of related experience
- Associate Degree with 2 years of related experience
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of the unique strengths and workplace needs of individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Travel throughout New Jersey with approximately 65% of your time spent in the community
