Job Summary
Facilitate daily Children's Therapeutic Support Services (CTSS) skills, lead group skill training and development sessions, and deliver individualized plans of care consistent with client goals. Actively engage clients in mental health recovery using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach while partnering with therapists, school staff, families, and community supports to advance client objectives. Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and agency trainings to share expertise and advance service reputation. Work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Day Treatment Program at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, serving youth with hearing loss who spend half their day in educational settings and the other half receiving intensive psychotherapy and skills training.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in American Sign Language
- Mental Health Practitioner qualification under MN Statute 245I
- At least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields
- At least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with a mental illness or a substance use disorder OR a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability
- At least 30 hours of additional training in the areas of mental illness, client recovery and resiliency, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders, and psychotropic medications and side effects
- Completed a practicum or internship that required direct interaction with adult clients or child clients and was focused on behavioral sciences or related fields
- Is in the process of completing a practicum or internship as part of a formal undergraduate or graduate training program in social work, psychology, or counseling
- Receives treatment supervision at least once per week until meeting the requirement in clause (1) of 4,000 hours of experience and has at least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with a mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disability
- Has at least 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to individuals with a mental illness or a substance use disorder or a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability
- Master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields
