DDP Technology | Powerline Technician (Journeyperson)

Job Summary

Construct, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain overhead and underground electrical distribution systems up to 6 kV, including performing live line rubber glove work on energized systems. Erect poles, build and repair underground cables, and conduct visual inspections of high-voltage equipment. Establish safe work zones, utilize UWPC for permits, and perform Live CO2 blast cleaning while operating bucket trucks and radial boom derricks. Lead crew members, mentor apprentices, and assume Lead Powerline Technician responsibilities when required. Work at heights up to 35 meters using approved fall arrest systems. Report daily to the Hamilton office/shop.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician / Lineperson Certification (Red Seal required)
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License in good standing (AZ or DZ preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of EUSR Safety Rules, OHSA, ESA requirements, and applicable legislation
  • Proven commitment to personal and public safety
  • Physically capable of heavy lifting, climbing, confined space work, and working at heights in all weather conditions
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude with basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to respond to emergencies and shifting priorities
  • Willing and able to report daily to the Hamilton office/shop
  • Current criminal record check and acceptable driver's abstract

Desired Qualifications

  • AZ or DZ license class
  • Certifications in First Aid, Working at Heights, Confined Space, and UWPC
