Job Summary
Internship for law students to gain hands-on experience in civil rights litigation and advocacy. Responsibilities include factual and legal research, drafting memos or pleadings, and supporting our litigation and advocacy agenda, plus participating in case/issue strategy sessions and check-ins. Full semester and part-time (15 hours/week minimum) internships are available, with a combination of in-person and remote work. For fall or spring, the internship will be unpaid and students must be able to receive school credit; summer internships may involve stipends if provided by WLC. The role focuses on equal opportunity in housing, education, public services, and the rights of prisoners and immigrants, within civil rights litigation and policy advocacy.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a law student
- Interest in civil rights litigation and advocacy
- Willingness to participate in a quarter/semester/summer internship
- Able to receive school credit or external funding when internship is not paid (Fall/Spring unpaid option)
- Capacity to work a combination of in-person and remote assignments
- Ability to contribute to research, drafting memos/pleadings, and advocacy tasks
