Job Summary
Monitor the facility and surrounding neighborhood through standing watch and patrols to identify and respond to safety concerns. Engage individuals calmly and respectfully to assess situations, apply trauma-informed de-escalation practices, and guide participants in safe conduct using Lighthouse policies. Maintain a welcoming environment while communicating risks to staff, documenting incidents, and coordinating with contracted security during shift changes. Assist with front desk support and general administrative tasks as needed. This role supports the mission of Shepherd's House Ministries to create safe, healing environments for individuals facing trauma and homelessness in Bend, OR.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility and surrounding property for extended periods
- Ability to respond quickly to safety or emergency situations
- Ability to bend, reach, and occasionally lift or carry items up to 35 pounds
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively to monitor activity and interact with others
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions and maintain alertness during extended shifts
- Ability to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Additional education or training in social services, security, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse community
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
