Job Summary
Maintain cleanliness and appearance of assigned areas, including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common spaces, through regular sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and surface cleaning. Perform routine floor care, restock supplies, clean windows and fixtures, and assist with event setup, furniture moves, and building operations. Respond to custodial needs, spills, emergencies, and deliveries throughout the school day while working across various buildings. Use a department-issued smartphone for communication, schedule access, and managing door systems. This daytime, school-year position starts approximately 6:30 a.m. with hours varying based on operational needs and special events.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval
- Knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated aptitude or competence in the performance responsibilities listed below
- Good work habits
- Dependability and ability to work without supervision
- Ability to maintain positive relations with students, school and town personnel, supervisors, and citizens at all times
- Knowledge of chemicals, asbestos management, safety, and Material Safety Data Sheets
- A positive attitude
- Flexibility
- Ability to work as a team member
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities
