Job Summary
Assist in developing and implementing daily activities to support the program for children aged 0-6 years, including reading stories, art, and playground games. Supervise and monitor children while providing basic care needs such as toileting, diapering, and bottle feeding. Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment by setting up, cleaning, and washing equipment. Prepare food and snacks if certified, and administer first aid or medication as assigned. Perform record-keeping functions including attendance and anecdotal reports, and communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders. Work under limited supervision with frequent interruptions, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
- Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, scanner, fax machines, etc.)
- Must be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds regularly
- Must maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children under 6 years of age
- Knowledge of stages of child development and correlating age-appropriate activities
- Hold or obtain CPR & First Aid Certificate within two months of hire
- Hold or obtain a Food Handler permit within two months of hire
