Job Summary
Conduct day-to-day short-term restricted substitute teaching in the absence of regular classroom teachers, performing all duties assigned by the School Principal. Cover only short-term placements; long-term assignments exceeding 10 consecutive days are not permitted. Maintain eligibility by holding a full professional teaching certification or a substitute permit issued before December 11, 2017, and complete a county-approved substitute training program within one calendar year. Applicants must be at least 21 years old with an associate degree or equivalent coursework. Successful candidates will undergo pre-screening interviews, orientation, and background screenings, with all associated fees and documentation responsibilities borne by the applicant.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
- Applicants must hold at least a 2 year conferred Associates Degree from an accredited institution (min. GPA 2.0)
- Applicants must meet the minimum equivalency hours
- Equivalency in lieu of a conferred associate degree should include a minimum of 60 semester credit hours or 90 quarter of completed course work with a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
- Coursework should provide evidence of competencies in core areas such as English, reading, writing, and mathematics
- Courses may include but are not limited to communications, social sciences, humanities and fine arts, analytical and inferential reasoning, and computational skills
- These hours must be reflected on an official transcript of an accredited institution
- Applicants must HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED a county approved substitute training program within 1 calendar year
- Applicants must hold a valid WV Restricted Substitute Permit issued by the WVDE
- Applicants must hold a full professional teaching certification or substitute permit issued before December 11, 2017
- Applicants must not have been dismissed or have had their contracts non-renewed for cause
- Applicants must not have received unfavorable reference recommendations
- Applicants must complete the entire application and provide all documents required
