Job Summary
Greet customers warmly, assist them with finding products, and help carry heavy purchases while maintaining store tidiness. Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, and rotate product to ensure freshness. Monitor for mis-picked items, report issues, organize stock for efficiency, and clean damaged items. Operate the register as needed, stock supplies, and assist with outside maintenance like shoveling snow and spreading ice melt. Help clean registers, restrooms, and backrooms, and train new day stockers on job duties. Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product
- Ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor
- Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise
- Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- Ability to use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environment
- Ability to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- Ability to work with and around heavy store equipment
- Ability to complete a pre employment drug screen
